11 New Job Opportunities for Spring & Summer 2017

SUMMER DAY CAMP SENIOR LEADER (1)

Responsible for planning and organizing themed summer camps, as well as overseeing and taking part in daily camps. Responsibilities include processing and organizing registrations, planning multiple crafts and activities, organizing special guests, purchasing required materials, and working within budgetary constraints, as well as researching, obtaining price comparisons, and booking locations and transportation for outings and field trips. The Day Camp Senior Leader will work under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator and will supervise 3-5 summer day camp leaders, as well as volunteers. The ideal candidate must be outgoing, well organized, imaginative, effective with time management, self-motivated, a great problem solver, responsible, caring, resourceful, and a team player. The Day Camp Senior Leader is also expected to actively participate in all daily activities. Previous supervisory experience, as well as experience working with children is required.  A valid G2 class drivers’ licence, access to a personal vehicle, valid First Aid & level C CPR certification and a criminal background check are required.

Student Positions

 MARCH BREAK DAY CAMP LEADERS (3)

Responsible for working in a day camp setting with other camp leaders as well as 10-40 children. Duties include assisting with program planning and organization as well as daily execution of planned programs, activities, and field trips. Camp leaders will also be working hands-on with campers, communicating with parents and special guests, supervising participants, reporting and recording all incidents and accidents that occur, as well as other duties as assigned. Candidates for this position must be mature role-models for the campers and must be outgoing, well organized, imaginative, great problem solvers, responsible, caring, and resourceful. Candidates are also expected to actively participate in all daily activities. Previous experience working with children is required.  A valid G2 class drivers’ licence, valid First Aid & level C CPR certification and a criminal background check are required.

TERM: March 13/17 –March 18/17   PAY: $11.77 to $12.49/hr.  REFERENCE # 0217

OUTDOOR POOL COORDINATOR (1)

Responsible for overseeing the staff, the programming and the operations at our two municipal pools. Duties include: processing registrations, organizing & overseeing swimming lessons, aiding with functions of the swim teams, supervision of pool staff, implementation and supervision of all programs and public swims, general finances, & general maintenance of the 2 pools, as well as communication with parents and facility staff, and other duties that may be assigned. Previous experience in a supervisory role with pool operations is considered an asset. Proof of valid NLS, WSI  and First Aid & CPR level C certification, as well as a valid G2 class drivers licence & access to a personal vehicle, are required.  Familiarity with all swim level programs is essential. A criminal background check is required.

HEAD LIFEGUARDS (2)

Responsible for representing the Pool Coordinator in his/her absence and for overseeing public swims, various swimming lesson programs, and pool staff at either the Chesterville or Winchester pool.  Duties include supervision of pool staff, checking inventory, ensuring proper & effective changeover of shifts and programming, reporting back to the Pool Coordinator about events at the pool, aiding with functions of the swim teams, guarding and/or supervision of programs and public swims, assisting with organizing and implementing all children’s swimming lessons, assisting with registrations for private swimming lessons, assisting with maintenance of the pool & pool house facilities, communication with parents and facility staff, and other duties as assigned. In the absence of the Pool Coordinator, the Head Lifeguards will aid with bank deposits.  Previous experience in a supervisory role with pool operations is considered an asset. Proof of valid NLS, WSI, and First Aid & level C CPR certifications, as well as a valid G2 driver’s licence and familiarity with all swim level programs are all essential. A criminal background check is required.

 GUARDS/SWIM INSTRUCTORS (13)

Responsible for overseeing all public swim sessions and various swimming lesson programs at either the Chesterville or Winchester pool. Duties include guarding during public swimming, assisting with organizing, implementing, and instructing all children’s swimming lessons, assisting with registrations for private swimming lessons, assisting with maintenance of the pool & pool house facilities, communication with parents and facility staff, organizing swim teams, and other duties as assigned. Previous experience working in a pool setting is considered an asset. Valid NLS, WSI, and First Aid & CPR certifications, as well as a criminal background check are all required.

AQUA FIT/AQUA ZUMBA INSTRUCTOR (2)

Responsible for designing and instructing an assortment of Aqua Fit or Aqua Zumba programs that cater to a variety of swimmers including seniors, prenatal, beginners, advanced, those with accessibility needs, etc. The ideal candidates must be able to instruct at both the Chesterville and Winchester pools, on a part-time, weekday basis. Previous Aqua Fit or Aqua Zumba instructional experience is required, as well as valid NLS certification, Water Safety Instructor certification, and First Aid & Level C CPR certification.

RECREATION PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS

The Recreation & Culture Department is currently seeking experienced program instructors for all types of recreation programs and training courses. A facility and required equipment are provided to the instructors. Applicants must be 20 yrs. + and must have valid First Aid and level C CPR certification.

MAINTENANCE/PARKS LABOURER (4)

Responsible for assisting full-time Facility Operators with the operation and maintenance of all recreation halls, pools, parks, and sports fields. Duties include lawn raking and mowing, trimming, general janitorial & landscaping duties, supervision of facilities, communication with the public, and other duties as assigned. Previous experience with maintenance equipment and general landscaping, are considered assets.   A valid G2 class drivers licence is required.

 HORTICULTURE & HERBICIDE CONTROL WORKER (1)

Responsible for maintaining all township owned flower gardens and trees, as well as herbicide control for sports field, sidewalks, building exteriors, etc.  Duties include: planting, watering, top coating,

pruning, and weed control. Previous related employment experience is considered an asset.  A valid G2 class drivers licence and valid Pesticide Exterminator’s Licence is required.

GENERAL LABOURER (2)

Responsible for assisting with grass-cutting at the entrances into Villages, as well as street entrances.  Also responsible for trimming around road side signs, guard rails, etc., and other duties as assigned by the Roads Supervisor. A valid G2 class drivers licence is required.
