MPAC Property Assessments

Your property taxes are calculated using the most recent Notice of Assessment mailed to property owners by MPAC. Visit MPAC for more information on understanding your property assessment.

If you disagree with your assessment, you may appeal it in one of two ways, through a Request for Reconsideration or through an Appeal to the Assessment Review Board.

Assessment Notice Mailing Schedule and Appeal Deadline Dates for 2017

It is important that you review your Property Assessment Notices and file any appeals with MPAC before the deadline.  Appeals will not be accepted by MPAC after the deadline.

Request for Reconsideration

The forms are available at the Township Office, or on-line at MPAC, or mailed to you by calling either the Municipal Office or MPAC. The deadline for filing a RFR is March 31st. There is no filing fee.

Appeal to the Assessment Review Board

The forms are available at the Township Office, or on-line at MPAC, or mailed to you by calling either the Township Office or MPAC. Information for filing a Request for Reconsideration or appeal to the Assessment Review Board can be found on your Notice of Assessment or by contacting MPAC by phone at 1-866-296-MPAC (6722) or through their website.

To assist you in filing either a RFR or an appeal to the Assessment Review Board you should compare your assessment to at least six other similar properties. Instructions are available at the Township Office or you may also register with MPAC for “About My Property” to assist you in your appeal.

Farming Properties

Farming properties must have a valid FBR (farm business registration number) and the property assessed as farm in order to qualify for the farm tax rate. Information is available from OMAFRA, MPAC, or the Township Office.

Managed Forests

Managed Forest properties must file a managed forest plan with the Ministry of Natural Resources in order to qualify for the managed forest tax rate. Information is available from MNR, MPAC, or the Township Office.

Any time you are requesting information regarding your property, your property tax roll number will be required.
