Public Works

The Department of Public Works is responsible for:

  • construction and maintenance of 387 km of roadways, including:
    72.6 km of paved roads
    199.6 km of surface treated roads
    103.6 km of gravel roads
    11.1 km of farm roads
  • biannual inspection and maintenance of 32 bridges and culverts
  • service and maintenance of approximately 72 pieces of equipment ranging from lawn mowers to road graders
  • maintaining the following buildings:
    • main shop at 12715 County Road 43 (former Township of Winchester garage)
    • former MTO site at the corner of County Roads 43 and 31
    • former Chesterville Public Works building on Industrial Drive that the township occupies in the winter
  • water and sewer
