Big improvements at the Rick Cauvier Memorial Park

Members of the Lions Club stand by the pavilion
October 5, 2021

If you’ve driven by the park in South Mountain lately, you may have noticed a few changes.

The Township of North Dundas is working hard to beautify public spaces. Over the past year, township staff and local contractors have been busy spiffing up the park.

Some of the improvements include: repaving the tennis courts, replacing the tennis court lights, light poles, nets & practice board, completing fence repairs, adding an accessible swing to the playground, replacing broken rink boards, building a new maintenance shed, installing basketball nets and backboards to convert the rink into a multi-purpose pad, and repaving the parking lot lines.

There is also a lovely new pavilion on site, boasting picnic tables and benches.

Pictured above, the Mountain Township and District Lions Club generously purchased 2 picnic tables and 1 park bench for the pavilion. From left, Mayor Tony Fraser, with Lions Club members David Howard, Karin Ceelen, Don Johnston, Terry Foley and Councillor Gary Annable.

Pictured below, Camouflage Property Maintenance built the maintenance shed, drilled holes for the basketball nets and graded all the gravel. From left, Mayor Tony Fraser, Camouflage co-owners Trevor Porteous and Doug Shantz, standing with his wife Danika Shantz and their son Winston.
